Ikaika got his new boots around February 1. He has survived a swollen and numb toe (boots too tight), and the breaking in process, and seems to be doing well. At least this time he did not lose all of his jumps. He had to get his orthotics re-covered as they were breaking down and it was thought to be causing the numb toe. In the process, his orthotic was changed a little and he did lose progress on jumps he had made, so our wonderful orthotic technician changed his orthotic back to the same way it was before. Ikaika met his coach Steve Baker during his first PACE group class at Olympic View Ice Arena March 2006. Steve became his coach after the group session concluded. Steve coached Ikaika to his 2012 NWP Regional Champion title.…
